Time For a Break!

We're Slowing Down For The Peak Heat Season

We're in the final couple of weeks of our Spring to Summer bouquet subscription season. Soon, we'll pause for about six weeks while the South settles into the hottest part of the year.

The flowers slow down, and so do we.

Even though there is still plenty of work happening behind the scenes, the pace shifts. Summer gives us a chance to catch our breath, tackle projects that are difficult during peak production, and spend precious time with family and friends—something that isn't always possible during our busiest seasons.

Hoop House Refresh

We've been waiting for the spring flowers to finish so we could remove the plastic from our original hoop house for the summer.

For the past five years, these beds have been protected from the elements. By opening the structure to rain, sunshine, and fresh air, we're allowing nature to help restore balance to the soil. We're also sowing a cover crop mix that acts as a natural fertilizer while preventing weeds from taking hold.

The hoop house will rest until mid to late September. Then we'll remove the cover crop, replace the plastic on the roof and end walls, and prepare for another season of overwintering flowers.

I'm already dreaming of exceptional ranunculus in spring 2027!

Countdown to the Holiday

Between now and July 4, we'll be making our final preparations for the fall flower season.

The heirloom mums will be planted in our second hoop house, the last of the dahlias will go into the ground, and we'll finish sowing annuals like zinnias, celosia, cosmos, basil, marigolds, and amaranth. Then comes the patient work of tending and waiting as they grow toward their moment to shine 60 to 90 days from now.

Our Next Bouquet Season

If you've been thinking about joining a bouquet subscription, our Late Summer to Fall season begins in mid-August and continues through mid-October. A subscription brings a little beauty and joy to everyday life—and also makes a meaningful gift for someone special.

Thanks to the work we completed last year expanding our hoop house space and growing more heirloom mums, we have room to welcome more flower lovers this season. We have room to welcome 10 new subscribers this season.

As a thank-you for helping us grow, we're introducing a referral gift this fall. If you sign up for a Late Summer to Fall subscription and refer a friend who also subscribes, you'll receive an extra bouquet during the season.

If you choose four bouquets, we'll deliver five.

If you choose eight bouquets, we'll deliver nine.

Dahlia Tubers

Our dahlia tuber sale has officially wrapped up for the year.

Thank you to everyone who purchased tubers and invited a little more beauty into your gardens. If you haven't planted yours yet, getting them into the ground this week or next should still allow plenty of time for gorgeous fall blooms.

As we head into the holiday, we hope you find moments to slow down, gather with the people you love, and enjoy the simple pleasures of summer.

Best wishes for a happy Fourth of July!

Linda
