Among the very first blooms of spring, anemones bring rich jewel-toned color to your garden. Blue, a royal blue color makes a bold statement. The Carmel series is known for its extra large flowers and long stems.
About 90 days after planting, the first short-stemmed flowers appear—perfect for bud vases. As the season continues, stems lengthen to 15–24”, making them ideal for cutting. Each corm produces an impressive 10–20 flowers, and because they don’t require much space, they’re just as happy in pots as they are in garden beds.
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil, and water sparingly. Anemones thrive in the cool temperatures of winter and early spring. In Zones 7 and warmer, plant in late fall; in colder climates, plant in early spring. Use frost protection if temperatures dip below freezing.
