  • The Basics of Growing Dahlias

    1.      Dahlias need 6 or more hours of sun a day

    2.      Whether using a pot (12 inch or greater) or growing in the ground, plant your tuber 4 inches deep.

    3.      Water deeply when planting and then do not water again until shoots appear.

    4.      Water and feed with an all purpose liquid fertilizer weekly after shoots are visible.

    5.      Pinch when 12-16 inches tall to force branching and more stems, which means more flowers.

    6.      Plants begin to bloom 12 weeks after planting and continue to bloom until frost.

    7.      Plants will need support. Tomato cages work well.escription text goes here
