The temperatures are finally starting to come down, and we are grateful. After such a long, hot summer, cooler mornings are a welcome reminder that fall really is on its way.

And for gardeners, that means it’s time to start thinking about spring.

Our Fall Shop is now open, with anemone corms and ranunculus corms available for planting. These are two of the flowers we look forward to most in early spring. They begin growing through the cooler months and reward us with beautiful blooms just when we’re ready for color again.

Anemones & Ranunculus for Your Cutting Garden

If you’ve never grown anemones or ranunculus, fall is the time to give them a try. Here in our mild Zone 8 climate, we plant them in the fall and protect them during periods of freezing weather.

We’re offering several of the same varieties we grow here at Purple Tuteur Farm, including soft pastels, whites, pinks, blues and deeper tones.

Each product listing includes a link to growing instructions to help you get started. These flowers do require a little attention through the winter, but seeing those first blooms in spring makes the effort worthwhile.

A Few New Things in the Shop

We’ve also added a few other farm-grown and garden-related items this fall.

Our new Party Confetti is made from flowers grown, harvested and dried here on the farm. It’s a natural way to add flowers to weddings and celebrations, and we now offer three-inch organza bags separately for making individual portions for your guests.

You’ll also find our Compost Tea Guide, a downloadable resource for gardeners who would like to learn more about how we make and use compost tea here on the farm.

So whether you’re planning next spring’s cutting garden, preparing for a celebration or simply looking forward to spending more time outside again, we hope you’ll find something useful in our Fall Shop.

For us, fall always feels a little like a fresh start. The temperatures cool, the soil becomes easier to work, and we begin planting flowers we won’t see for months.

There is something hopeful about that.
